Role Overview
Banner Health is hiring a part-time Birth Registrar for its Tucson, Arizona campus. This role supports new families by helping complete birth certificate packet documentation and related vital records paperwork. It suits someone who is service-oriented, highly organized, comfortable multitasking, and careful with details.
Workplace and Schedule
This position is based in Tucson, AZ, within the WIS Support Center-Hosp department. The shift is varied, and the role requires 20 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible and can be coordinated with the team leader based on operational needs.

Banner University Medical Center - Tucson offers women’s and infant services, complete maternity care, and specialized programs designed to support the best possible birthing experience. The hospital is an academic Level 1 Trauma Center in Southern Arizona and has expanded into a new nine-story tower with modern patient-care equipment and updated systems.
Banner - University Medical Center Tucson is recognized for patient care, medical education, and research. It also includes Diamond Children's, known for pediatric, neonatal intensive care, emergency medicine, and cancer therapies. The medical center is a Level 1 Trauma Center, has Magnet Recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and its physicians serve as full-time faculty of the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson. Specialty services include heart care, cancer care, neuroscience, and multi-organ transplant support.
Key Duties
The Birth Registrar is responsible for completing state-required birth certificates through electronic birth certificate systems and handling related records and documentation.
Additional Responsibilities
- Speak with parents and review medical charts to verify and correct information for birth, death, and paternity records.
- Guide families through state rules and procedures related to birth, death, Social Security, and paternity documentation.
- Prepare, file, and report birth and death certificates according to state requirements.
- Notarize and submit documents in line with Arizona law.
- Support parents in accurately completing paternity affidavits while maintaining compliance with Arizona regulations.
- Keep hospital records current and accurate, including birth certificate worksheets and baby name updates.
- Work with patients, family members, physicians, Banner Health staff, state office representatives, and personnel from other hospitals.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent practical knowledge, along with basic computer literacy. Strong written communication, solid organizational ability, and attention to detail are required. Prior knowledge of medical terminology is preferred, and bilingual English/Spanish ability is strongly preferred.
