Role Overview
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is hiring an Associate Athletic Director for Compliance in Piscataway, New Jersey. This full-time role reports to the Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director and includes oversight of one staff member, along with support for daily compliance operations in coordination with a peer Associate Athletic Director.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will oversee athletic compliance for one or more high-profile programs, with particular emphasis on basketball. The role includes ensuring compliance with NCAA bylaws 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, and 20; delivering timely rules education to everyone connected to the program; monitoring program activities; and supporting game-day operations at both home and away events while maintaining alignment with NCAA, CSC, Big Ten Conference, and institutional standards.
Additional duties include managing CAPS and HyperWallet for the assigned sports, overseeing the Office of Athletic Compliance’s supervision of Academic Support Services for Student-Athletes (ASSSA) staff, and leading the office’s broader rules education effort for all groups covered by NCAA legislation, including coaches, staff, student-athletes, and part-time employees.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent blend of education and experience, is required. The role also calls for at least five years of relevant experience, strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent attention to detail, a solid working understanding of NCAA Division I and CSC rules, and proficiency with word processing tools, spreadsheets, databases, and LSDBi.
About the Program
Rutgers Division of Intercollegiate Athletics supports 24 varsity sports, including 14 women’s programs and 10 men’s programs, all competing at the Division I level. The Scarlet Knights are members of the Big Ten Conference, which Rutgers joined on July 1, 2014. Rutgers is also recognized as the birthplace of college football, having played Princeton in the first intercollegiate football game on November 6, 1869.
