Role Overview
The Assistant Planner, Kids will support planning and buying teams throughout both pre-season and in-season activities. In this role, you will partner closely with a Planner to help drive sales and profit goals for one or more merchandise categories, working alongside buying teams to support business performance.
You will contribute to the creation and execution of financial plans, assortment strategies, and buy plans. The position also includes support for Open to Buy (OTB), receipt tracking, market preparation, and ad hoc merchandise analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with monthly OTB forecasts and related presentations.
- Support the Planner in setting pre-season sales, profit, and inventory targets, while identifying in-season risks and opportunities.
- Maintain daily and weekly reporting for the merchant team.
- Review business performance at the vendor, product category, and classification levels and recommend actions to strengthen results.
- Build and sustain vendor relationships to help align on business objectives and needs.
- Collaborate effectively with Buying, Planning, Category Growth, and Store Allocation teams.
- Prepare pre-market buy recommendations covering style variety and unit depth by vendor and channel.
- Gradually assume greater ownership and responsibility for a portion of the business as you develop in the role.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education or equivalent retail experience.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in buying, planning, or allocation.
- Solid understanding of retail math and inventory management concepts.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with merchandising systems.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $62,400 to $80,200. Pay may vary by location, with the listed range reflecting multiple markets, including higher-cost regions. Starting compensation will depend on work location, experience, and other job-related factors.
