Role overview
G-III Apparel Group is hiring an Assistant Buyer for the DKNY Stores team in Midtown Manhattan’s Fashion District, New York City. In this role, you will support the buying and merchandising workflow that helps shape seasonal assortments, improve sales results, and keep inventory flowing efficiently across the DKNY retail business. This position reports to the VP of Merchandising and is suited to someone who is organized, commercially minded, and enthusiastic about fashion retail.

Key responsibilities
- Support the Buyer in building and executing seasonal merchandise assortments that align with brand direction and business goals.
- Review weekly sales, stock, and performance data to spot opportunities and help guide buying choices.
- Maintain purchase orders, product setup records, and assortment files with accuracy.
- Monitor delivery schedules and purchase order progress so merchandise reaches stores and e-commerce channels on time.
- Assist with inventory control through reporting, reorder suggestions, and stock analysis.
- Work with Planning, Allocation, Visual Merchandising, and Store Operations teams to support launches and product execution for each season.
- Prepare presentations, business recaps, and reporting used for line reviews, meetings, and seasonal hindsight analysis.
- Keep product details and merchandising data current across internal systems.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate is collaborative, quick to learn, and comfortable taking initiative. Strong communication skills, a detail-focused mindset, and good organizational habits are important, along with an interest in fashion, retail trends, and the customer experience.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, Retail Merchandising, or an equivalent background is preferred. Candidates should have 1–3 years of experience in retail buying, merchandising, planning, allocation, or a closely related area. Strong Microsoft Office skills are required, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Advanced Excel ability for reporting, analysis, and data handling is expected. Experience with retail merchandise systems, ERP software, or inventory management tools is a plus. Solid analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills are also necessary.

Compensation notice
The hourly pay range for this role is $28.85 to $31.25. This range is provided in good faith and is included in line with New York City salary transparency requirements.
