This opportunity is with Deloitte in Toronto, Ontario, for a full-time permanent or contract position focused on AI/ML models within financial engineering and modeling. Role summary
In this position, you will advise financial services industry clients on quantitative and analytical matters, drawing on advanced technical expertise and access to Deloitte’s global network of specialists. The work involves helping clients approach complex issues with greater confidence and identifying practical solutions to high-stakes challenges.
You will also contribute to the development, validation, and review of large language models using recognized industry practices. In addition, you may work across related analytical areas such as credit modeling, forecasting, stress testing, and customer behavior modeling.
Responsibilities
- Support financial services clients in addressing quantitative and analytical problems with sound technical guidance.
- Develop, assess, validate, and review LLMs in line with current industry standards.
- Explore and contribute to adjacent analytical work such as credit risk modeling, forecasting, stress testing, and customer behavior analysis.
- Create practical solutions for generative AI features and evaluate different models and toolchains through testing and benchmarking.
- Apply advanced technical and scientific reasoning to client-facing problem solving.
Requirements
- Prior experience in the AI/ML space.
- Working knowledge of NLP, LLMs, fine-tuning, model development, and deployment, including both extractive and generative use cases.
- Familiarity with current developments in LLMs and open-source ecosystems.
- Hands-on exposure to LangChain and RAG.
- Practical experience using Python and tools such as Hugging Face, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, or comparable statistical/machine learning frameworks.
- A PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical thinking, careful attention to detail, and strong logical reasoning ability.
- Curiosity about emerging technologies and the ability to learn technical or scientific concepts quickly with limited guidance.

Total rewards
The compensation range for this role is $56,000 to $84,000 for the Analyst level, or $68,000 to $102,000 for the Consultant level. Employees may also be eligible for a bonus program. Deloitte states that pay is benchmarked regularly across roles, industries, and levels, with an approach focused on rewarding individual strengths and contributions.
