About the role

The German Youth Hostel Association is opening a new youth hostel at Markkleeberger See in 2026 and is looking for an all-rounder to join the team in Markkleeberg as soon as possible. The role is available part-time or full-time and is based directly on the lake, where guests can stay active, relax, and enjoy their time on land or on the water.

This position is suited to someone who enjoys working with people of all ages, values cleanliness and order, and wants to contribute to a committed team in a lively hospitality environment.

What the job involves

• Supporting the team across all areas of the youth hostel and helping wherever work is needed.
• Assisting with routine room cleaning and departure cleaning.
• Carrying out minor repair and maintenance tasks on equipment and furniture.
• Taking care of outdoor spaces, including green area upkeep, winter services, waste collection, and waste separation.
• Being a friendly and approachable contact for children and adult guests alike.
• Contributing positively to the team atmosphere and helping colleagues stay motivated day to day.

• Ideally, you bring some background in housekeeping or have practical manual skills and basic technical understanding.
• You are willing to get involved, work hands-on, and take on varied tasks.

• You remain calm in busy situations and know how to stay structured under pressure.
• You are open to fresh ideas and want to help make the youth hostel an attractive place for young travelers.

About the organization

For more than 100 years, the Saxony regional association of the German Youth Hostel Association has been part of a global idea centered on hospitality, respect, and openness to the world. As a non-profit organization, it operates 23 youth hostels in some of Saxony's most attractive locations. These hostels are learning spaces and places for shared experiences, where memorable moments are created for school groups, families, and sports teams.
