Academic Operations Associate - Mathematics

About the Role

Vishwajyot Group of Schools in Mumbai is looking for an Academic Operations Associate for Mathematics who can go beyond teaching procedures and help students develop genuine mathematical understanding. The role is built around the idea that strong learning comes from knowing both the rule and the reason behind it. You will work on strengthening math foundations, identifying where students’ reasoning begins to break down, and helping create systems that prevent learning gaps from growing over time.

Why This Role Exists

Mathematical understanding builds cumulatively. When students develop real conceptual clarity early, they become more confident and capable in later grades. When basic ideas remain weak, those gaps often stay hidden until they create larger difficulties. This role is central to Vishwajyot’s effort to build an academic support structure that helps every student form strong math foundations from the beginning.

Key Responsibilities

You will divide your time equally between secondary-level diagnostic support and middle-school foundation building.

Secondary Student Diagnosis, Support, and Intervention

• Work one-on-one with students by reviewing exam answers, observing how they solve problems, and asking them to explain their thinking aloud.
• Identify not only the incorrect answer, but also the point at which the student’s reasoning started to fail.
• Trace conceptual gaps back to earlier grades, such as Grade 6 or Grade 7, and create customized support plans based on those gaps.
• Coordinate or deliver targeted interventions and monitor each student’s improvement over time.
• Partner with the Academic Team to develop a repeatable diagnostic and support process that can be used beyond the current group of students.

Middle School Foundation Building and Early Warning Systems

• Work with middle school Math teachers and the Academic Team to understand how concepts are being developed in Grades 6 to 8.
• Help design processes that spot learning gaps early, before they expand into larger issues in later grades.
• Contribute to improvements in middle school Math curriculum and content alongside academic coordinators and the Academic Team.
• Build collaborative relationships with teachers as a supportive thought partner rather than as an evaluator.

Requirements

• 2 to 5 years of experience teaching Mathematics, ideally across middle school and/or secondary grades.
• Strong understanding of the K–10 Mathematics curriculum and the progression of concepts from one grade to the next.
• Ability to diagnose learning gaps with precision and identify the root cause of a student’s difficulty.
• Comfortable working directly with students in a coaching and diagnostic setting.
• Patient, analytical, and non-judgmental approach while supporting learners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborating across teams and with school leadership.

Preferred Experience

• Background in curriculum development, lesson planning, or educational content creation.
• Ability to interpret assessment data and use it to generate learning insights.
• Exposure to academic operations or school improvement work.

Eligibility

Applicants should hold a B.Sc. in Mathematics or a B.Tech./B.E. in any specialization.

Additional Information

This role focuses on both diagnosis and system-building, so the work is not limited to direct student support. It also involves contributing to school-level academic processes that strengthen math learning across grades.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is INR 5,00,000 to INR 8,00,000.
