Role Summary

This full-time, on-site position in Elizabethtown, Kentucky focuses on keeping the rental yard organized, safe, and ready for day-to-day operations. The Yard Technician handles the cleaning, inspection, staging, and movement of equipment for both outgoing rentals and returned units. The role also includes routine checks, fueling and washing machines, updating equipment records, and passing maintenance concerns to the service team.

Key Duties

• Arrange and maintain the yard so equipment is easy to locate, safe to access, and properly stored.
• Prepare rental units for pickup and return by cleaning, inspecting, and staging them appropriately.
• Load and unload machinery and equipment as needed.
• Carry out basic pre-use checks, including visual inspections and simple equipment condition reviews.
• Refuel and wash equipment units to keep them rental-ready.
• Flag maintenance issues and communicate them to the service staff promptly.
• Support inventory control by tagging, tracking, and recording equipment locations.
• Help ensure items are secured correctly and that yard safety and cleanliness standards are always followed.
• Work with customers and drivers on-site to confirm orders and share basic equipment information.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Comfort operating or moving equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, or similar machines, with a willingness to complete required certifications if needed.
• Working mechanical awareness to perform visual checks, monitor fluid levels, and spot clear signs of damage or malfunction.
• Strong commitment to safe work practices, including PPE usage, proper tie-down methods, and adherence to yard procedures.
• Good organizational habits for maintaining order, following checklists, and helping keep inventory accurate.
• Clear communication and a team-first approach when coordinating with office staff, drivers, technicians, and customers.
• Ability to remain active throughout the day, including standing, walking, lifting, and moving materials in different weather conditions.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Prior exposure to equipment rental, construction, landscaping, or a similar field is an advantage.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Comfort working outdoors in a busy, fast-moving environment.
