Role overview
This position focuses on the efficient handling of stock so that customer orders are received, stored, packed, and dispatched correctly, on schedule, and in excellent condition.
Key duties
- Accept incoming deliveries, inspect them, and ensure that safe unloading practices are followed.
- Verify that goods received match the delivery paperwork, are undamaged, and are stored and stacked in line with product requirements and internal procedures.
- Process and record returned stock according to company methods.
- Pick, count, assemble, and package orders while checking that items are in good condition and align with the accompanying paperwork.
- Review lot numbers and expiry dates, and ensure stock is rotated appropriately.
- Prepare monthly lists of stock that is close to expiry or already expired.
- Carry out stock counts and support ongoing inventory control.
- Complete daily and weekly temperature monitoring in line with agreed procedures.
- Track and record the return of grey crates.
- Work to company policies and quality standards at all times.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly warehouse for colleagues, visitors, and other employees.
- Operate a forklift in accordance with agreed procedures.
- Support delivery vehicle loading as needed.
- Provide regular support to the Operations Manager.
- Step in as a relief driver when required.
- Handle other tasks, projects, and assignments as directed.
Experience and skills needed
- Prior experience in a warehouse environment.
- Strong numerical ability and close attention to detail.
- Confident team player with good interpersonal and communication skills at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues, managers, and clients.
- Comfort working with multiple priorities and managing workload effectively.
- Strong customer service approach and the ability to stay effective under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and different people.
- Basic IT knowledge, especially in Excel, Word, and Outlook, is an advantage.
- Forklift licence is an advantage.
