Tyre Fitter

Overview

Thiess is seeking a Tyre Fitter to join its team at Iron Range, Queensland on a 2/2 day-shift/night-shift roster. This is a permanent full-time opportunity within a global mining business that focuses on supporting people, developing capability, and delivering strong performance across diverse projects and environments.

Key responsibilities

• Assess tyre, rim, and wheel condition and identify any issues that need attention.
• Remove and refit wheels and rims on vehicles, and replace tyres on rims and wheels as needed.
• Carry out routine tyre pressure inspections, make adjustments, and escalate findings to the supervisor.
• Use manuals, technical notices, and computer systems to find the right technical guidance.
• Take action to help prevent equipment non-conformance from occurring.
• Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work areas to a high housekeeping standard.
• Complete pre-start inspections before work begins.

Requirements

• Certificate II in Automotive Tyre Servicing is required.
• At least 1 year of experience fitting heavy tyres on mine sites is required.
• Previous open-cut mining experience maintaining a heavy earthmoving fleet is essential.
• A current HR driver’s licence is required.
• A forklift ticket is required.
• Strong commitment to health and safety compliance at all times is expected.
