Stores - Warehouse Assistant

Role Overview

Robinson Trailers and Cranes is seeking a practical, hands-on Stores / Warehouse Assistant / Fork Truck Driver to support day-to-day warehouse and parts operations in Portlaoise. The role suits someone with broad stores experience and a strong understanding of high-volume parts handling in a manufacturing or motor trade setting.

Key Duties

• Handle incoming and outgoing parts efficiently, even when multiple items are moving through the stores at once.
• Use a fork truck to load and unload materials, while keeping the associated paperwork organised and up to date.
• Recognise common technical parts such as axles, wheels, bolts, and similar components.
• Speak with customers to understand the exact part required and arrange the documentation and dispatch accordingly.
• Carry out stock counts and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Keep stock arranged in a logical, efficient way and use warehouse software to allocate items and help forecast future requirements.
• Support a well-organised stores area that helps assembly-bay picking run smoothly.
• Assist with general factory upkeep, including minor maintenance tasks such as repairing fans and doors and washing floors.
• Work safely and follow manual handling and health and safety guidance when lifting heavy items.

Experience and Background

The ideal candidate will already have solid experience in stores or parts operations, preferably from manufacturing or the motor trade, where they have handled a wide variety of parts and understood their technical uses. Training will be provided for the role.
