Role Overview

This position carries overall responsibility for the detailed engineering design, calculations, and specifications for telecommunication systems and equipment used in offshore oil and gas facilities. The role also involves reviewing engineering deliverables produced by consultants, contractors, and suppliers, then providing sound technical recommendations that support the final design.

Prior exposure to witnessing and approving FATs and SATs for instrumentation-related items would be a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and choose telecommunications systems and equipment for offshore oil and gas assets, including digital microwave radio, fibre optic and submarine cables, VSAT satellite systems, auxiliary radios, PA and alarm networks, CCTV, and related communication infrastructure such as HF SSB, VHF/UHF, AM NDB systems, RACON, and trunk radio.
• Apply relevant engineering codes, standards, and industry practices for telecommunications design and installation, including CCITT, CCIR, ISA, ANSI, AGA, and IEC references.
• Lead coordination of telecommunications design and development activities for new projects and modifications to existing installations, while advising during construction and equipment installation to ensure compliance with design intent and applicable standards.
• Advise on the selection of equipment and materials for both new developments and replacement work in existing facilities.
• Translate Worley’s vision, purpose, and values into practical objectives for both personal performance and team delivery.
• Work in line with quality assurance requirements and established QA procedures.
• Maintain personal safety and follow occupational health and safety requirements at all times.
• Embed HSE principles into the design process with a strong focus on process safety and best practice.

Technical Knowledge and Experience

• Strong understanding of codes, standards, and installation practices relevant to instrumentation and related systems, including API, ISA, ANSI, AGA, ISO, and IEC.
• Solid knowledge of selecting equipment and materials for new installations and replacement projects.
• Extensive hands-on experience designing microprocessor-based systems such as SCADA/DCS, ESD, IPS, fire and gas detection, fire protection systems, metering, and WHCP.
• Broad technical, practical, and leadership background in the telecom discipline within a comparable industry.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary projects and teams is required.

Education and Accreditation

• A full-time bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering from an accredited university is required.
• MME engineering accreditation is mandatory. Candidates who do not yet hold it must be prepared to obtain it during the probation period.
• Chartered Professional Engineer status, or active pursuit of it, will be considered an advantage.
