About the Role
Fluor is looking for a seasoned Electrical Engineer to contribute to a major petrochemical project in Saudi Arabia. This position is suited to an engineer who can combine deep technical expertise with practical leadership across large FEED and EPC assignments. What You Will Do
- Support electrical engineering work across the full project lifecycle, from basic engineering and detailed design through construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning support.
- Develop and review electrical deliverables for greenfield and brownfield facilities, including PDP, FEED, and pre-tender stages.
- Resolve design and operational issues by applying strong troubleshooting skills and sound engineering judgment.
- Prepare and check engineering documents such as specifications, datasheets, single-line diagrams, and layouts for equipment, cabling, and grounding.
- Assist procurement activities and coordinate technical discussions with vendors, clients, and contractors.
- Monitor schedule progress, man-hours, productivity, and status updates for project controls reporting.
- Review vendor deviations and support technical decisions aligned with project requirements and standards.
- Contribute to value engineering, technical problem-solving, and long-term solutions for recurring plant issues.
- Guide junior engineers through mentoring, coaching, and technical support.
- Represent the technical team in discussions, presentations, conferences, and proposal development for PDP and FEED phases.
Skills and Experience Needed
- At least 15 years of professional engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized 4-year program or equivalent.
- Background in petrochemical, fertilizer, refining, oil, or gas projects with an international FEED/EPC contractor.
- Proven exposure to FEED assignments of roughly 100,000 man-hours.
- Strong understanding of IEC, NEC, NFPA, PIP, and related international codes and industry practices.
- Practical experience with ETAP modeling and PSCAD.
- Ability to select electrical equipment based on process needs and project conditions.
- Confidence in reviewing and approving electrical design documents and engineering packages.
- Experience coordinating with vendors and contractors while interpreting project standards and technical requirements.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Excellent analytical ability, planning discipline, problem-solving capability, and interpersonal skills.
- Intermediate proficiency with office and engineering software such as word processing, email, spreadsheets, and presentation tools.
- Familiarity with local, regional, and national engineering codes, statutes, and guidelines.
Additional Requirements
Candidates should be authorized to work in the country where the position is based. Professional certification or registration is preferred, and membership in relevant technical societies is considered an advantage. The role also requires a strong focus on accuracy, time management, field awareness, and the ability to work effectively with management, colleagues, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
