Role overview
This full-time Production Planner position is based onsite in Chermside, Queensland. The role is central to the manufacturing operation and focuses on converting customer demand and inventory needs into practical production schedules that improve service levels, productivity and overall operational performance.
You will oversee planning across several fabrication work centres, managing the flow from raw materials through to finished products and dispatch. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will work closely with Manufacturing, Sales, Purchasing and external suppliers to keep production aligned with customer expectations and business priorities.
Key duties
- Build and update production schedules across multiple fabrication work centres.
- Manage workflow from raw material intake through cutting, drilling, machining, welding, outsourcing and dispatch.
- Handle customer order requirements, stock replenishment and batch planning.
- Prepare short- and medium-range production plans to meet operational needs and forecast demand.
- Track important performance measures such as DIFOT, inventory results, machine and fabrication centre utilisation, and production efficiency.
- Keep planning data accurate, produce reports and use business systems to support decision-making.
- Spot planning bottlenecks and apply solutions that improve operational outcomes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and help shape best-practice planning processes.

The ideal candidate is an experienced planner who thrives in a fast-moving batch manufacturing environment. You should be curious, adaptable, creative, collaborative and keen to keep learning.
Requirements
- Background in production planning, manufacturing planning, supply planning or demand planning.
- Knowledge of manufacturing or fabrication processes, materials, mechanical operations or shop-floor activity is beneficial.
- Strong computer skills, including advanced Excel, and confidence using planning ERP systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and a structured, process-oriented working style.
- Strong organisation and prioritisation skills with the ability to meet customer deadlines.
- Sound analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- A proactive attitude with the confidence to question current methods and improve them.
- Ability to develop productive relationships across multiple teams.
