Role overview
The Executive Director of Operations is a senior leadership position focused on running and improving the company’s everyday business operations. This role is accountable for driving efficiency, productivity, profitability, and sustainable growth by shaping operational direction and ensuring execution across the organization.
What you will do
- Direct the company’s daily operational work across departments and business units.
- Create, refine, and roll out operating policies, procedures, and plans that support business goals.
- Find ways to improve efficiency, output, and cost control while raising operational performance.
- Track KPIs and other business metrics to confirm targets are being met.
- Work with executive leaders to design and execute strategic initiatives.
- Handle operational budgets, forecasting, and resource planning to improve overall results.
- Make sure company policies, industry rules, and quality expectations are followed.
- Spot operational risks and put mitigation plans in place to protect business continuity.
- Lead change efforts and continuous improvement programs across the organization.
- Coordinate teams across functions so business operations run smoothly.
- Oversee workforce planning, employee development, and performance management in operational teams.
- Assess and introduce technology tools that strengthen operating effectiveness.
- Maintain productive relationships with clients, vendors, partners, and other important stakeholders.
- Prepare operational updates and present progress reports to leadership and the board.
Qualifications
This position calls for a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Management, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline. An MBA is preferred. Candidates should bring at least 12 years of progressive experience in operations management, including senior leadership exposure. Prior success in managing large operational functions and cross-functional teams is essential. The role also requires a solid grasp of business operations, process improvement, organizational development, budgeting, financial analysis, and performance management.
Preferred capabilities
Additional advantage will be given to candidates with experience in strategic planning and organizational transformation, as well as familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, or similar operational excellence methods. Strong project management and change management skills, experience with enterprise systems and business process automation, and the ability to lead diverse teams across multiple locations are also valuable.
