Role overview

Airways International Ltd, the commercial division of Airways New Zealand, delivers aviation training, simulation and selection services, aeronautical information management, flight procedure design, and aviation consultancy to clients around the world. This opening is for a full-time, permanent Navigation Procedure Designer based at the AON Centre in central Wellington. The position sits in the procedure design team and reports to the Team Leader Procedure Design.

What you will do

You will create, validate, and maintain safe, efficient visual and instrument flight procedures in line with the requirements of a Certificate issued under New Zealand Civil Aviation Rule Part 173.

  • Develop and update all categories of visual and instrument flight procedures as approved by the Manager Procedure Design or Team Leader Procedure Design.
  • Produce procedures that are accurate, operationally practical, and suitable for use in a highly dynamic operating environment.
  • Prepare and submit material to the Civil Aviation Authority and Aeronautical Information Management for publication of new or revised instrument flight procedures.
  • Work in line with Aeropath system manuals and the relevant technical and quality management documentation used in procedure design.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Keep developing professionally in air navigation, PANS-OPS criteria, and the tools and techniques used to design and assess flight procedures.
