Role summary
The Groves in Riyadh is a premium destination focused on lifestyle, dining, entertainment, and events. The venue is looking for an experienced Live Sound Engineer who can create reliable, high-quality audio for concerts, live shows, corporate functions, festivals, and upscale hospitality events.
This position centers on planning, installing, running, maintaining, and fine-tuning professional audio systems for live productions. The role requires close coordination with performers, production staff, and venue leadership to ensure every event meets strong technical and creative standards.
The right person should be comfortable working in energetic live-event settings, able to adapt quickly when production needs change, and committed to delivering excellent sound in fast-paced environments.
Audio operations
- Prepare, configure, run, and strike live sound setups for concerts, performances, private functions, festivals, and venue activations.
- Manage digital and analog mixing desks during rehearsals and live shows.
- Carry out detailed sound checks with artists, musicians, DJs, presenters, and production crews.
- Balance audio levels, EQ, dynamics, monitor mixes, and effects to maintain strong sound throughout the event.
- Deliver consistent front-of-house and monitor mixes that satisfy both artist and production expectations.
Technical support
- Identify and resolve equipment or system issues before and during events with minimal interruption.
- Find and fix problems related to microphones, wireless systems, speakers, amplifiers, signal processors, and digital audio networks.
- Carry out regular tests, preventive maintenance, and equipment checks.
- Arrange repairs and servicing whenever required.
Event production coordination
- Work alongside Production Managers, Lighting Technicians, Stage Managers, AV teams, performers, and outside production vendors.
- Review technical riders and apply the audio requirements specified by artists.
- Support stage patching, signal routing, and backstage technical needs.
- Assist with rehearsals, venue changeovers, and production timelines.
- Help ensure audio integrates smoothly with lighting, video, and special effects.
Equipment management
- Keep an accurate record of all audio gear and related accessories.
- Make sure equipment is stored, transported, and maintained according to manufacturer guidance.
- Report missing or damaged items without delay.
- Suggest equipment replacements or upgrades when appropriate.
Health and safety
- Comply with all venue safety, operational, and health procedures.
- Manage cables and equipment placement safely to reduce hazards.
- Follow electrical safety rules and event risk-management protocols.
Continuous improvement
- Keep up to date with new audio technologies, software, and industry standards.
- Take part in technical training and product demonstrations.
- Share ideas that improve production quality and operational efficiency.
Technical expertise
- Strong working knowledge of professional digital mixing consoles.
- Solid understanding of audio signal flow, gain structure, acoustics, microphone selection and placement, loudspeaker systems, wireless microphone systems, and digital audio networking, with Dante preferred.
- Hands-on experience with front-of-house and monitor mixing systems.
- Audio recording system familiarity is an advantage.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, stage plots, and audio patch lists.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree, diploma, or technical certification in Audio Engineering, Sound Engineering, Music Technology, or a related technical area is preferred.
- At least 5 to 6 years of professional live sound engineering experience, ideally in entertainment venues, festivals, theatres, concerts, or luxury hospitality settings.
- Proven background supporting high-profile live events and performances.
- Excellent listening ability and a strong eye for audio detail.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to stay composed under pressure during live productions.
- Good organization and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for working with multidisciplinary crews.
- Professional attitude with a strong focus on guest experience.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, public holidays, and extended hours depending on event schedules.
- Ability to lift and move professional audio equipment safely.
- Comfortable standing for long periods during productions.
- Able to work indoors and outdoors in changing weather conditions.
- Experience in luxury hospitality venues, live entertainment destinations, concerts, festivals, corporate events, theatres, performing arts venues, theme parks, or immersive entertainment settings will be especially valued.
