About the Opportunity
V!VA Leaside is preparing to open in 2026, and the organization is assembling its founding team for a luxury retirement residence in Toronto. This is a chance to help shape a high-quality living experience for older adults from the ground up in one of the city’s most established neighbourhoods. The company promotes a people-first culture built around making today great, with an emphasis on service excellence, compassion, and innovation.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that supports seniors every day, while being part of a launch team focused on delivering outstanding care and hospitality.
V!VA Retirement Communities offers competitive compensation along with health benefits, team meals, vacation, sick pay, and additional benefits.
The Role
The Laundry Aid works under the Housekeeping Supervisor and partners with the Assistant Community Director to help ensure smooth service delivery for Community Members at V!VA Leaside. The main focus of the position is laundering bathroom and bedroom linens, along with selected personal laundry services for residents who have requested them. All work must align with the organization’s service culture, Orange Dot values, mission, and standards.
Key Duties
- Deliver laundry services that meet the community’s service culture expectations.
- Follow the laundry department’s daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedule.
- Process every item according to the care instructions on its tag.
- Return items marked “dry clean only” to the resident with written notice.
- Use the correct cleaning products and treatments, including stain-removal solutions when directed.
- Notify residents in writing if an item’s label is becoming detached.
- Maintain a strong focus on resident satisfaction.
- Wash, dry, fold, iron, and distribute laundry as needed.
- Keep all resident records, checklists, and documentation current, and communicate updates to the team by email, writing, or verbally as appropriate.
- Resolve laundry-related concerns with residents, families, and team members, escalating requests for services outside the current package to the Assistant Community Director and/or Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual audits when requested.
- Report signs, symptoms, or behaviours that may indicate a decline in a resident’s wellbeing, such as unusually soiled linens.
- Follow infection-prevention practices at all times, including consistent separation of clean and soiled linen and tighter controls during outbreaks.
- Ask for training or education needed to improve performance and knowledge.
- Support additional housekeeping or laundry tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Clear communication skills for interacting with colleagues and supervisors.
- Ability to organize work and manage time with minimal oversight.
- Strong teamwork skills and an understanding of other team priorities.
- Physical ability to bend, stretch, sit, and stand for extended periods, with a lifting capacity of up to 50 lb.
- Comfort using commercial laundry and cleaning equipment.
- Flexibility to work varied hours and weekends.
- Completion of the Safety 24-7 online training program.
- Housekeeping experience is considered an advantage.
- Good spoken and written English communication skills.
