Reporting to the IT Manager, the successful candidate will help deliver day-to-day technical support and will also contribute to the rollout of new IT services and solutions.
Profile and experience
The ideal applicant will have a third-level qualification in Information Technology at NFQ Level 6 or an equivalent standard, or be actively working toward one. Up to one year of relevant experience is acceptable, including internships, placements, or academic project work.
Applicants should already have a basic grasp of Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS/DHCP, along with familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and standard Office tools. An interest in networking equipment and technologies, including switches, routers, and firewalls, is also important. Basic knowledge of hardware such as PCs, laptops, printers, and mobile devices will be useful.
Main duties
- Deliver first-line support to users by phone, email, and in person.
- Investigate and resolve straightforward hardware and software problems.

- Assist with installing and configuring IT hardware and applications.
- Keep support records and technical documentation up to date.
- Work with senior IT colleagues on projects and system enhancements.

- Pass more complex incidents to senior team members when required.
- Maintain a professional approach and protect confidentiality in all IT matters.
- Keep learning and stay current with new and emerging technologies.
Desired strengths
Strong communication and people skills are important, along with good organisation, initiative, and a positive, adaptable mindset. The role also suits someone who enjoys problem-solving and is keen to learn quickly.
Preferred but not essential qualifications include CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Fundamentals. Previous exposure to VPN, WAN, VoIP, or PBX technologies would also be an advantage.
What you can expect
This position offers a supportive setting to grow an IT career, broad hands-on exposure to different technologies, chances to support projects, and ongoing training and professional development.
