Role Overview

Lincat is hiring an IT Technician for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The position supports the IT Manager in safeguarding systems and handling everyday IT operations across the business.

Working Pattern

This is a 37.5-hour-per-week position, scheduled Monday through Friday.

Key Duties

• Lead the site-wide Windows 11 rollout and help ensure delivery against corporate deadlines.
• Monitor IT systems to support reliability and maintain consistent day-to-day availability.
• Assist the IT Manager in maintaining and improving technology systems while working within established procedures and guidance.
• Support the setup and installation of hardware and software, making sure new solutions integrate properly with current systems.
• Handle initial diagnosis and resolution of basic hardware and software issues, and escalate more involved problems where necessary.
• Provide everyday user support, including creating accounts, resetting passwords, and assisting with general PC usage.
• Maintain the IT asset register by keeping records of equipment and software up to date.
• Work in line with company and group IT policies to protect data and ensure tasks are completed securely.
• Support access management and encourage adherence to company IT rules, including internet and email use.
• Collaborate with the Global IT team on projects, updates, and rollout activities.
• Take on other reasonable duties as assigned by management.

Essential Experience and Knowledge

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in IT support, IT operations, or helpdesk work, ideally involving direct contact with users or customers. A solid understanding of computer systems, networking, system administration, firewalls, VPNs, databases, data storage, and VoIP is important, along with familiarity with IT infrastructure and operational best practices. The role also calls for awareness of information security principles and the ability to guide users toward secure working practices.

The role also demands integrity, professionalism, discretion when dealing with confidential information, a proactive mindset, and a flexible, adaptable approach to changing business needs.

Qualifications

A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related area is preferred, or an equivalent qualification and/or relevant experience. Cisco networking or Microsoft Core Infrastructure certifications are considered an advantage, but they are not essential.
