Role overview

An established private household in Hampstead, Montreal is looking for a seasoned, dependable, and discreet housekeeper to manage daily upkeep and keep the home running smoothly. The role also includes occasional evening meal preparation tailored to the family’s routine.

Core housekeeping duties

• Keep living spaces consistently tidy, clean, and comfortable through routine housekeeping, dusting, and floor maintenance.
• Carry out more thorough cleaning when needed, including bathrooms, showers, ovens, terraces, and balconies.
• Maintain a welcoming, orderly, and well-kept home environment at all times.
• Make beds and replace linens whenever necessary.
• Arrange storage spaces, closets, and personal items in a neat and logical way.
• Track food supplies in the fridge and pantry, and rotate items properly.
• Store, organize, and seasonally rotate clothing.
• Handle furniture and delicate surfaces with appropriate care.
• Support the overall functionality and upkeep of the residence.

Laundry and wardrobe care

• Wash, sort, fold, and iron clothing as well as household linens.
• Take care of garments and textile items to preserve their condition.
• Complete minor mending and alterations as required.
• Keep wardrobes and closets orderly and easy to manage.

Cooking and meal support

• Prepare the evening meal from time to time.
• Cook simple, nutritious, family-style dishes.
• Leave meals ready to serve or reheat according to instructions.
• Clean and reset the kitchen after food preparation.

Household coordination and logistics

• Provide daily care for three dogs.
• Arrange dog walks, grooming, veterinary appointments, and other pet-related needs.
• Handle errands such as grocery shopping and replenishing household supplies.
• Occasionally drive children to activities, appointments, and other outings.
• Receive contractors and service personnel at the residence.
• Interact with vendors and outside service providers in a courteous and professional manner.
• Oversee service visits when needed and pass along relevant updates to the family.
• Manage garbage, recycling, and similar household tasks.
• Escalate any concerns or maintenance issues that need attention in the home.

Qualifications and expectations

• Background in housekeeping, household assistance, or private residence maintenance is required.
• Comfort with cooking and preparing straightforward, healthy meals is important.
• Strong command of either English or French is necessary.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail are essential.

Schedule and work details

This is a permanent, full-time onsite position based in Hampstead, Quebec. The standard schedule runs Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility required. The residence is reachable by public transportation, on-site parking is available, and a vehicle is provided for work-related tasks.

Compensation

Salary is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
