Freight Forwarding Controller

Role Overview

The Freight Forwarding Controller will support daily freight, warehouse, and cargo-tracking operations in Ndola. This role focuses on coordinating loading and unloading activity, maintaining accurate movement and stock records, keeping client reporting up to date, and ensuring timely communication with all parties involved in cargo handling.

Key Duties

• Prepare the day’s loading and offloading plan and share it with the warehouse team for execution.
• Bring together warehouse information, check it for accuracy, and enter it into the system for reporting.
• Create and validate daily stock and tracking updates for clients, then distribute them according to each client’s requirements.
• Make sure all pre-alerts and transport documents are forwarded to the correct receiving parties and completely archived in Alfresco.
• Respond to client and vendor questions in a timely, professional way and work toward practical resolutions.
• Track cargo while it is in transit and ensure key performance targets are achieved until offloading at destination.
• Work with the capacity team each day to confirm project capacity needs and help maintain truck turnaround targets and KPIs.
• Carry out physical stock counts, compare results with the Stocks Controller and the appointed inspection company, and report findings to the client.
• Manage proof-of-delivery processing and related follow-up.
• Perform any other related duties that may be assigned within the scope of the role.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Full Grade 12 Certificate with at least a merit in Mathematics and English.
• Diploma in Transport and Logistics.
• Computer literacy and confidence using common software applications.
• Current paid-up membership with the Zambia Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (ZCILT).
• At least 1 year of experience in warehousing and logistics is an added advantage.

This position is based in Ndola, Copperbelt Province, Zambia, and is a full-time onsite role. The duties listed are not exhaustive and may be expanded as needed to support the business.
