Role overview
Join a well-known electrical infrastructure company that is helping drive New Zealand’s energy transition. From its Auckland base, the business delivers work across renewable energy, data centres, EV charging networks, and critical power systems. As the company continues to grow across electricity and infrastructure markets, it is looking for an Electrical Project Estimator for a 12-month contract.
Key responsibilities
- Build detailed cost estimates for tenders, bids, and proposal submissions.
- Measure quantities from drawings and technical documentation.
- Assess and price materials, equipment, labour, subcontracted services, and transport/logistics.
- Prepare estimating assumptions, exclusions, and commercial qualifications.
- Support pricing for variations, change requests, and project re-estimations.
- Spot commercial risks, opportunities, and value-engineering options.
- Evaluate quotations received from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Assist with margin calculations, cash flow considerations, and lead-time planning.
- Help respond to tender clarifications and client questions.
- Take part in bid reviews and handover activities.
- Keep estimating databases, templates, and cost benchmarks up to date.
- Contribute to process and tool improvements within the estimating function.
What success in this role looks like
- A qualification in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
- Between 2 and 5 years of experience in electrical estimating, tendering, or cost engineering.
- Background in electrical infrastructure, power systems, or a similar sector.
- Understanding of renewable energy, data centres, EV charging infrastructure, or comparable electrical projects.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and scope documents.
- Confidence working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary project team.
- Must be currently located in New Zealand and legally entitled to work there.
