Role overview
Bloomberg is seeking an Economics Editor to join its research team in Dubai. The role sits within a global network of economists and economics reporters that covers the interaction between economic and political developments worldwide. This team produces timely, high-impact research on monetary policy, fiscal policy, growth, inflation, and related economic indicators across a region stretching from China to India and New Zealand.
What you'll do
- Edit economic analysis so it is concise, well organized, engaging, and produced quickly and accurately, often under pressing deadlines.
- Use editorial judgment to decide when and how research should be written, shaped, and framed so it is effective for a professional audience.
- Work closely with economists, analysts, and newsroom colleagues to extend the reach of research across Bloomberg’s platforms.
- Adapt and edit content for multiple distribution channels, including promotion on the Bloomberg Terminal, while coordinating with regional news desks and editors.
What we're looking for
- At least 10 years of professional background in financial journalism.
- Prior experience in a live or fast-moving news environment.
- Strong ability to build clear, tightly structured stories for financial professionals with an emphasis on accuracy, readability, and useful insight.
- Comfort working with technical content, along with a solid grasp of core economic and financial concepts.
- Ability to explain data in plain, accessible language.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Initiative and drive to support economists and analysts in a fast-paced setting.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Evidence of steady career progression within one organization.
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification.
Preferred background
A qualification in journalism, economics, political science, international relations, regional studies, or a closely related discipline would be an advantage.
