Role overview
The Delivery Supervisor will oversee last-mile delivery activities for the assigned business unit. The position is focused on ensuring products move efficiently and on time from distribution centers to customers, GMG stores, and other business accounts. It also involves managing delivery staff, fleet performance, route planning, regulatory adherence, and coordination with internal stakeholders to maintain service quality and operational effectiveness.
Key duties
- Lead day-to-day last-mile delivery execution to make sure shipments reach customers accurately and on schedule.
- Oversee drivers and delivery assistants, including work allocation, attendance control, performance review, and adherence to company rules.
- Design and assign routes, vehicles, and manpower to improve efficiency and meet service targets.
- Manage fleet use, vehicle upkeep, paperwork, and readiness for operations.
- Handle incidents related to deliveries, vehicle failures, road accidents, and concerns raised by drivers.
- Maintain compliance with UAE transport rules, food handling standards, temperature-controlled delivery needs, and applicable permits.
- Work with logistics management systems such as LMS and TMS to track deliveries, measure performance, and strengthen efficiency.
- Partner with Warehouse, Sales, Customer Service, and Accounts teams to keep delivery operations running smoothly and resolve issues quickly.
- Track delivery KPIs and prepare reports to support ongoing improvement efforts.
Skills and capabilities
Success in this role requires strong expertise in last-mile distribution, fleet coordination, and route planning, along with solid knowledge of the UAE market and transport rules. Familiarity with food safety, cold-chain handling, and permit requirements for food and pharmaceutical deliveries is important. The role also calls for confidence using logistics software and Microsoft Office, plus strong communication, leadership, troubleshooting, and stakeholder management skills.
Qualifications and experience
A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred. Candidates should have 3 to 5 years of experience in logistics, transport, or distribution operations, including supervisory responsibilities. Background in FMCG, food distribution, retail, or pharmaceutical logistics is an advantage. A valid UAE driving license is required. The role also needs flexibility to support operational demands outside normal working hours when necessary.
