Overview
This is an on-site data analyst internship in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, designed to give practical exposure to live datasets, dashboard creation, and reporting for stakeholders. The role is hands-on and suited to someone who wants to build real-world analytics experience while working closely with experienced data professionals.
What you will do
- Collect information from multiple sources such as databases, spreadsheets, and APIs.
- Clean, standardize, and prepare data so it remains accurate and consistent.
- Spot missing, incorrect, or incomplete records and resolve them appropriately.
- Carry out basic statistical analysis to uncover patterns, trends, and insights.
- Help translate findings into practical recommendations for business decisions.
- Support senior analysts with deeper analytical work when needed.
- Build dashboards and reports using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Present results in a clear and visually effective format.
- Contribute to weekly and monthly performance reporting.
- Maintain databases and keep records up to date.
- Write simple SQL queries to retrieve and manipulate data.
- Work with different teams to understand data requirements.
- Use data insights to support process improvement and decision-making.
- Document data handling methods, analysis steps, and outcomes for future reference.
- Take part in training sessions and team meetings while continuing to learn modern data tools.
- Assist with basic predictive modeling, report automation through Python or Excel macros, and real-time monitoring tasks.
Skills and qualifications
- Working knowledge of SQL, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Python, and Pandas.
- Familiarity with Jupyter Notebook, Git, and Google Sheets is preferred.
- Enrollment in, or recent completion of, a degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Commerce, or another quantitative field.
- Ability to work on-site in Australia and eligibility to work in the country for the internship period.
- Strong focus on data quality, attention to detail, and willingness to follow documentation standards.
- Interest in learning enterprise data processes and collaborating in a fast-moving environment.
