Highwood Emissions Management is hiring a Consultant to join its full-time, permanent team in Calgary, Houston, or remotely. This role sits within a flexible schedule and usually requires availability during standard office hours unless time has been reserved on your calendar. The position reports to a Senior Consultant.

What this role is about

Methane is one of the most important emissions challenges tied to the energy transition. Because the science is complex and the data can be difficult to interpret, Highwood’s work focuses on narrowing the difference between reported emissions and actual emissions with accuracy, credibility, and technical rigor. As a Consultant, you will help deliver that work directly.

You will convert methane expertise into practical value for clients. Most of your time will be spent on hands-on delivery: researching, analyzing, writing, and producing client outputs that support emissions management. This is a core consulting role on technically demanding projects, not a back-office support position. You will work with subject-matter experts who are helping shape global standards for methane management.

The company is looking for someone with 2–5 years of relevant experience, strong command of a related subject area, and the ability to work independently while managing several assignments at once. You should be comfortable knowing when to make decisions on your own and when to ask for input. The role suits someone motivated by meaningful work and by contributing to a global emissions challenge.

Key responsibilities

• Keep up to date with developments in methane measurement, regulation, and reporting, then turn that knowledge into polished client deliverables.
• Contribute billable work across projects such as emissions inventory development, measurement programme design, OGMP 2.0 reporting, regulatory compliance, and related assignments.
• Work closely with senior consultants and other teams to provide technically sound and practical solutions for clients.
• Take the lead on project components where your expertise is strongest.
• Deliver work reliably, meeting deadlines, staying within scope, and maintaining Highwood’s quality standards.
• Support client relationship management and internal project tracking through Highwood’s systems and standard operating procedures.
• Follow project management direction from your manager and escalate ideas for process improvement to senior consultants.
• Look for opportunities outside the company to broaden your industry knowledge and share useful insights with the wider team.
• Engage with internal thought leaders to build a deeper understanding of the methane landscape.
• Help with proposal development and scope drafting.
• Attend networking and business development events to expand your professional connections.
• Assist the business development team by following up with prospects and maintaining engagement with potential clients.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate is serious about high-quality work and ready to apply established expertise in a fast-paced consulting environment. The role calls for someone who cares about quality, adapts well to complex technical work, and communicates clearly with both experts and non-experts.

Relevant background should include 2–5+ years of experience in oil and gas, environmental consulting, emissions management, or a closely related area. You should be able to speak confidently about your specialty with clients and colleagues, produce strong written work, and tailor technical information for different audiences. Analytical problem-solving is important, as is the ability to manage your own workload across multiple active projects. Familiarity with methane emissions measurement, OGMP 2.0, LDAR, or regulatory reporting frameworks would be an advantage. A strong desire to keep learning and share knowledge with the team is also expected.

Education and qualifications

A degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline is required.
