Commis II (Cold Kitchen)

Role overview

This position is for a Commis II in the cold kitchen at Aloft Abu Dhabi, based at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It is a full-time, non-management role.

Key duties

You will handle food preparation tasks such as portioning, chopping, washing, peeling, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients. The role includes preparing and cooking items in line with recipes, presentation requirements, quality standards, and food preparation checklists, with a particular focus on cold food production.

You will also operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers, check whether food is properly cooked, monitor quality during preparation, set up and close down the workstation, portion food correctly, and maintain cleanliness by washing and disinfecting kitchen surfaces, utensils, knives, tools, and equipment. In addition, you must verify the temperature of appliances and food.

Work standards and conduct

The role requires adherence to company policies, safety rules, and security procedures, along with timely reporting of maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions. You will be expected to complete required safety training and certifications, maintain a neat and professional appearance, protect confidential information, safeguard company property, communicate clearly and professionally, and build positive working relationships that support team goals.

Physical requirements include standing, sitting, or walking for long periods or an entire shift, as well as reaching, bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, and moving items weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance. You may also be asked to perform other reasonable duties assigned by supervisors.

Preferred qualification

The preferred background includes a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, at least 1 year of related work experience, no supervisory experience, and no license or certification requirement.
