Role overview

PALFINGER is hiring an experienced Buyer to support procurement work in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Reporting to the Purchasing Team Lead, the role focuses on sourcing designated materials, supplies, and equipment so operational purchasing needs are met efficiently. The position also partners with inventory management to apply materials planning and inventory control methods, while working with field teams and vendors to address purchasing-related issues in line with regional procurement goals.

Key responsibilities

• Raise purchase orders for direct and indirect requirements using demand signals, master data, and requisitions.
• Follow up on open orders to improve supplier delivery performance and close gaps caused by delays or shortages.
• Keep purchasing master data current and share rolling forecasts with selected suppliers as required by agreements.
• Assist with supplier discussions, sourcing initiatives, and improvement efforts such as cost savings and supplier-managed inventory programs.
• Work with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to support production requirements, new product launches, engineering updates, and resolution of procurement concerns.

Candidate profile

• At least 3–5 years of relevant experience, ideally in manufacturing or an industrial setting.
• Hands-on exposure to SAP and materials planning tools; MRP or similar systems are preferred.
• A bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) is preferred.
• Background in procurement, supply chain operations, and negotiating prices and purchasing terms.
• Strong organization, analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, time management, and a sharp eye for detail.
