Utility Worker

Role overview

This full-time Utility Worker position is based at Itawamba Community College – Fulton Campus in Fulton, Mississippi. The role supports kitchen and facility operations by helping keep food service spaces clean, sanitary, organized, and running smoothly.

Work schedules can vary, and candidates with open availability are preferred. Shift details and additional information will be shared during the interview process.

What you will do

• Wash dishes either manually or using a dishwashing machine.
• Clean and sanitize tables, walls, refrigerators, meat blocks, and other work surfaces.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and otherwise maintain floors.
• Collect and remove trash and waste to the proper disposal areas.
• Clean equipment using designated chemicals while following sanitation standards.
• Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and cleaning materials.
• Assist with basic setup and breakdown tasks as needed.
• Support other duties when assigned, based on site needs and client requirements.
• Maintain consistent attendance and arrive on time for scheduled shifts.

Physical and work conditions

• This job involves a significant amount of walking and general mobility.
• You may be required to stand or walk for long periods, including full shifts that can exceed 8 hours.
• The role requires frequent reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
• You should be able to lift up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required.
• No prior related work experience is necessary.
• Basic knowledge of sanitation practices and food safety concepts is expected.

Pay and benefits

The hourly pay for this position is $12 to $13.
