Structural Inspector

Overview

This opportunity is for an experienced Structural Inspector for a stadium project, with a focus on structural evaluation and assessments. The position suits a civil engineering professional who is especially familiar with bridges and related structures. The selected candidate will inspect structural assets, judge their integrity, and produce clear reports on their condition and any concerns identified.

What you will do

• Carry out both scheduled and specialist inspections of bridges and associated structures to evaluate safety and structural soundness.
• Apply inspection techniques such as visual checks, non-destructive testing, and instrumentation to assess the condition of bridge elements.
• Keep accurate records of all observations made during inspections, including deterioration, defects, and possible safety risks.
• Draft detailed inspection reports summarizing bridge condition, the seriousness of any findings, and suggested maintenance or repair actions.
• Work with engineering teams to review inspection results and create repair and maintenance strategies for bridges and related structures.
• Remain up to date with current industry codes, standards, and regulations relevant to bridge inspection and structural engineering.
• Offer technical support and direction to junior inspectors and other engineering personnel involved in inspection work.
• Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure inspections are organized efficiently and deadlines are achieved.
• Join discussions with clients, regulatory bodies, and other relevant stakeholders to present findings and recommendations.

Profile

The role requires a strong civil engineering background and hands-on experience in bridge inspection and structural assessment. The candidate should be able to interpret structural conditions accurately, communicate technical findings effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Master’s degree is advantageous.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is preferred.
• At least 8 to 12 years of relevant experience in bridge inspection and structural assessment.
• Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, construction practices, and material behavior.
• Working knowledge of standards and codes including AASHTO, ASCE, and FHWA.
• Well-developed analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, and close attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical matters to different audiences.
• Comfortable using inspection tools, software, and related equipment.
• Able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Willing to travel to different project locations as required.
