Ploy is creating growth automation software centered around the website as the primary product surface. The platform helps agencies, startups, and companies in more traditional sectors generate on-brand, strategy-led web pages quickly by using agents that research business context, identify effective approaches for account-based personalization, SEO/AEO, and conversion optimization, and then publish pages in seconds to improve traffic and conversions.

The company’s long-term goal is to reshape what a marketing website means in an agent-driven world and move beyond the older low-code website-building model. By removing repetitive manual work, long delivery cycles, and resource bottlenecks, Ploy aims to give teams a faster, more creative way to ship.

The team includes highly experienced engineers and design engineers, backed by world-class investors, and one of the co-founders is Bryant Chou, formerly the co-founder and CTO of Webflow.

Role Overview

Ploy is looking for a Software Engineer to help build the platform that brings this vision to life. The work spans the main product experience, agent-driven workflows, and the systems that allow teams to launch high-performing pages quickly.

This position blends product engineering, AI systems, infrastructure, design engineering, and growth. You will help turn ambitious product ideas into dependable, scalable, and polished software, working across website editing experiences, agent orchestration, customer dashboards, publishing systems, internal tools, and experimentation workflows.

This is a high-ownership role at an early-stage startup. You will collaborate closely with founders, designers, growth engineers, and customers to define problems, shape solutions, and deliver production features that directly affect the business.

The ideal candidate enjoys building, values craft, and is energized by challenging technical and product problems where speed and quality both matter.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and improve the main Ploy product, including website creation, editing, personalization, publishing, analytics, and agent-driven workflows.
• Design and implement AI-enabled experiences that help users work with agents to research, generate, edit, and launch pages more efficiently.
• Develop refined, high-performance frontend interfaces with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js, and related modern web technologies.
• Create backend APIs, services, data structures, and infrastructure that support dependable product performance at scale.
• Contribute to publishing and performance work so the websites produced by Ploy are fast, reliable, SEO/AEO-ready, and production-quality.
• Move quickly on product initiatives by partnering with design, product, growth, and customers to convert unclear ideas into shipped features.
• Build internal tools and workflows that improve speed across engineering, growth, customer success, and operations.
• Own software quality through performance, observability, error handling, edge-case coverage, and long-term maintainability.
• Stay close to customers and translate real user feedback into product improvements.
• Help shape engineering standards, architecture choices, code reviews, and a strong collaborative team culture.

Qualifications

The right candidate should bring at least 2 years of experience building production software, ideally in a fast-moving startup, product engineering, or other high-ownership setting.

You should have strong hands-on experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js, and modern web app development, along with the ability to work comfortably across the stack, including frontend, backend APIs, databases, and infrastructure.

Strong product thinking is important: the role calls for someone who cares about speed, clarity, usefulness, and overall user delight, not just functional correctness. You should also have experience shipping real products to real users and improving them based on feedback.

The role suits someone who is genuinely interested in AI, websites, growth, design engineering, marketing technology, and the future of software. Good technical judgment, a practical approach to tradeoffs, and comfort navigating ambiguity are important.

You should be able to break open-ended problems into clear, buildable pieces, act quickly without waiting for perfect specifications, pay close attention to details, and communicate well with founders, designers, engineers, and customer-facing teams.

Because this role is in New York City, you should be comfortable working in person with a fast-moving team.

Preferred Experience

• Hands-on exposure to AI tools, LLM APIs, agents, prompt design, evaluation workflows, or automation systems.
• Experience with Tailwind CSS, Node.js, Vercel, Supabase, PostgreSQL, Prisma, or similar technologies.
• Background building website builders, CMS platforms, visual editors, publishing systems, personalization products, or marketing and growth software.

Work Style

This role is best suited for someone who wants to move quickly, take ownership of meaningful parts of the product, and help build the software layer that is redefining the marketing website.

Location

New York City Metropolitan Area, with an in-person working expectation.
