Role overview
Maas Construct, part of Maas Group Holdings, is hiring an experienced Site Manager to oversee the daily delivery of a major construction project in Launceston, Tasmania. This is an 18-month fixed-term contract.
Maas Construct is a building construction business within Maas Group Holdings, an Australian ASX-listed provider of construction materials, equipment, and services with operations across property, civil, infrastructure, and mining. Supported by a workforce of more than 2,000 people and a fleet of over 550 machines, the group delivers buildings and infrastructure across regional Australia through its own materials, plant, and support capabilities.
What the role involves
You will be responsible for leading site delivery, coordinating trade packages, managing logistics, and guiding site supervisors and engineering staff to ensure the project is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards and program.
- Oversee everyday site activity, including setting up the site, managing access, planning logistics, and coordinating trades.
- Keep construction work moving according to the approved project sequence and schedule.
- Coordinate subcontractors, site interfaces, access arrangements, and safety compliance across all active work packages.
- Ensure housekeeping, site safety, and quality controls are maintained in line with the company’s project management approach.
- Lead site supervisors and leading hands across all active trade packages.
- Work closely with the Engineering Lead on design issues, inspection hold points, and technical coordination.
- Partner with the Project Manager regarding progress updates, subcontractor performance, and matters that need escalation.
- Organise site inductions, toolbox meetings, and workforce coordination together with the HSE Manager.
Requirements
This role calls for a seasoned site leader with significant building construction experience, especially on large projects involving multiple trade packages running at the same time.
- At least 10 years of site management experience in the building construction sector.
- Proven experience handling multiple trade packages simultaneously on major building projects.
- Current Construction Induction Card (White Card).
- Relevant site management certifications.
- Solid understanding of construction sequencing, site logistics, and WHS obligations.
- A tertiary qualification in Construction Management, or a similar field, is preferred.
- Ability to lead with authority and earn respect from trades and subcontractors.
- Capable of balancing safety, quality, and program demands at the same time.
- Hands-on construction knowledge with strong practical problem-solving ability.
- Confident, direct communication with project staff, subcontractors, and the site workforce.
- Well organised, alert to site conditions, and capable of supervising effectively in a fast-moving environment.
