Role Overview
The Scrap Auditor plays a key part in improving scrap performance across the plant. This position helps educate other teams on reducing scrap, identifies the root causes behind scrap generation, and supports actions that lower scrap-related costs.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare scrap reports and keep track of scrap trends.
- Share scrap-related information with both internal and external vendors.
- Lead continuous-improvement efforts across departments to help meet scrap-reduction targets for Flex-N-Gate facilities, internal teams, and vendors.
- Own and oversee RMA and chargeback activities, making sure charges are submitted on time and receipts are followed up with accounting.
- Work with vendor representatives to oversee sorting, quality concerns, disposition decisions, and on-site sort work, while helping improve supplier performance.
- Coordinate internally with Materials, Production, Quality, and Engineering, and track scrap costs linked to each department.
- Manage finesse, repair, and teardown activities, including tracking and follow-up.
- Complete CMS system entries, ensure all holds are communicated, make sure transactions are finished, and confirm materials are properly disposed of and returned to vendors on time.
- Monitor the plant floor to verify that disposition-related entries are accurate.
- Help prevent parts from aging on the plant floor.
- Track non-conforming product, identify the responsible owners, and drive disposition to closure.
- Train finesse team members.
- Handle open issues with the vendor base and work closely with Quality, Engineering, and Materials teams to push supplier improvement.
Required Qualifications
- An associate degree, or an equivalent two-year college or technical school background, is preferred; alternatively, two to four years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent mix of education and experience, will be considered.
- Practical understanding of OEM quality expectations for painted plastics, molded products, and chrome-plated parts.
- Prior quality experience and supervisory exposure are preferred.
- Basic knowledge of SPC and tooling for collecting variable and qualitative data is an advantage.
- Knowledge of IATF standards is considered a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with strong interpersonal skills.
