Research Assistant Level 1

Role overview

Maynooth University’s School of Business is recruiting a Research Assistant at Level 1 to contribute to the Duck-FEED project, an Ireland-funded initiative focused on duckweed as a sustainable, locally sourced protein option for feed production.

The wider collaboration includes Maynooth University, Technological University Dublin, Teagasc, and University College Cork. The project is working toward better small-scale outdoor cultivation methods, growing Lemna on agricultural waste streams, improving protein extraction approaches, and evaluating feed quality, economic feasibility, environmental impact, and public acceptance of duckweed as a native protein-rich feedstock.

Compensation

The salary is aligned to the Research Assistant (Level 1) scale of €34,130 per annum on a pro rata basis, Point 1. Appointment terms will follow public sector pay arrangements.
