Quantity Surveyor

Role overview

This position places you at the centre of the commercial side of the Engineering function, supporting the delivery of water infrastructure projects that serve the local community. The role is focused on ensuring projects are managed commercially well, delivered on schedule, and kept within budget while upholding the quality standards expected by customers.

You will work closely with Project Managers and the wider engineering team, using your commercial and contractual knowledge to help steer a varied project portfolio and contribute to the continuous improvement of team processes.

Key duties

• Oversee the correct administration of engineering contracts, with a primary focus on NEC-based agreements.
• Assist Project Managers with contract handling and commercial discussions.
• Prepare NEC-compliant contract documentation and help the engineering team produce compliant work information sections and scopes.
• Produce monthly reports covering project performance against key KPIs.
• Review pricing, quotations, tender submissions, and associated risk factors.
• Prepare directorate reporting for the project portfolio, including forecast completion, cost and value to date, forecast outturn, and planned completion.
• Support the ongoing improvement of departmental processes and procedures, including contract adjustments where needed.
• Contribute to the Health, Safety and Wellbeing approach by attending site and carrying out safety observations to help maintain safe working conditions.
• Complete required company training, with particular emphasis on NEC contract learning and progression toward RICS chartership.
• Manage Early Warning, Compensation Event, and Risk tools, along with related business systems.

We are looking for a commercially minded professional with strong contract and quantity surveying capability, ideally gained in the construction sector. Compensation

The salary range for this role is £55,000 to £60,000 per year, depending on experience.
