Role Summary

This position involves quality control testing for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods related to Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) and Poly Anionic Cellulose (PAC). The chemist will help ensure that products comply with customer expectations, quality benchmarks, and applicable regulatory norms while keeping laboratory documentation complete and accurate.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out quality checks on raw inputs, intermediates, and finished products.
• Test CMC and PAC for viscosity, moisture, pH, purity, degree of substitution (DS), particle size, sodium glycolate, sodium chloride, assay, and any other relevant parameters.
• Perform physical and chemical analysis in line with approved methods and specifications.
• Prepare reagents, standard solutions, and calibration standards for laboratory use.
• Handle, calibrate, and maintain equipment such as Brookfield Viscometer, pH Meter, Moisture Analyzer, Oven, Muffle Furnace, UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, and Analytical Balance.
• Keep lab registers, logbooks, Certificates of Analysis (COA), and test reports up to date.
• Work in accordance with SOPs, GLP, GMP, ISO 9001, and laboratory safety rules.
• Review and support investigation of Out-of-Specification (OOS) and Out-of-Trend (OOT) results along with the QC Head.
• Assist with internal audits, customer audits, and certification audits.
• Coordinate with Production and QA teams for batch release and continuous quality improvement.
• Maintain clean work practices and ensure safe handling of laboratory chemicals.
• Bring relevant exposure in cellulose derivatives, specialty chemicals, or polymer manufacturing, as this is preferred.

Eligibility

Applicants should hold a B.Sc. in any specialization, while a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or Industrial Chemistry is preferred for this role. Candidates with 1 to 5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing QC laboratory are preferred, especially those with exposure to pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing settings.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or Industrial Chemistry.
• B.Sc. in any specialization is listed as eligible.

Experience

• 1 to 5 years of experience in a QC laboratory within chemical manufacturing.
• Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing industry is preferred.
• Experience in cellulose derivatives, specialty chemicals, or polymer manufacturing is an added advantage.

Compensation

The offered package is in the range of INR 3,00,000 to 4,00,000 per year.
