Project Director

Role Overview

Libera Consultants is hiring a seasoned Project Director to steer the delivery of large capital projects in the Oil & Gas or process sectors. This senior leadership role is suited to an experienced engineering professional who can guide major initiatives from early-stage development through final handover, while leading diverse technical and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of major projects, providing clear direction from project launch through completion.
• Keep delivery focused on safety, schedule, cost control, and quality expectations.
• Handle project planning, execution, resource deployment, risk control, and stakeholder coordination.
• Lead cross-functional teams covering engineering, procurement, construction, and project controls.
• Monitor budgets, timelines, performance indicators, and contract commitments throughout the project lifecycle.
• Contribute to project definition, technical bid reviews, and broader strategic planning efforts.
• Ensure adherence to internal procedures, applicable industry standards, and regulatory obligations.
• Coach and develop team members, building accountability and strong performance across all deliverables.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a closely related field is required; professional engineering registration is an added advantage.
• At least 25 years of experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Energy, or process industry environments.
• Demonstrated success in leading mega projects and managing large multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong command of project management, planning, scheduling, controls, and execution practices.
• Well-developed leadership ability, commercial judgment, and stakeholder management skills.
• Good knowledge of industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in the Middle East is mandatory, and prior Saudi Arabia experience is highly preferred.
