Role overview
This opportunity is aimed at early-career network engineers with roughly 1 to 2 years of practical experience who want to deepen their knowledge of large-scale networking. The position offers exposure to real production infrastructure, collaboration with an experienced engineering team, and room to contribute ideas around automation, architecture, and operations.
Key responsibilities
- Support day-to-day operation of a global production network, including incident handling, planned changes, maintenance work, deployment support, and ongoing improvements.
- Investigate and resolve connectivity problems across backbone, data center, and cloud-based environments.
- Track network health through telemetry and analysis platforms such as sFlow and IPFIX, and help identify the source of performance issues.
- Help create and maintain operational procedures, technical documentation, and runbooks.
- Work regional shifts as part of a follow-the-sun coverage model to provide 24-hour network support.
- Take part in a weekend on-call rota, with coverage of up to 12 hours per day.
Required experience and skills
- About 1 to 2 years of relevant hands-on experience in network operations, networking engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong grasp of core networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, and subnetting.
- Practical exposure to routing protocols such as OSPF, IS-IS, or BGP concepts.
- Experience handling routers and switches in a live production environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems in a structured way and explain findings clearly.
- Working familiarity with version control tools such as Git.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
Preferred exposure
- Knowledge of MPLS, BGP, IPv6, or VPN services.
- Experience using Linux systems or writing scripts in Python or a similar language.
- Exposure to network monitoring, telemetry, or observability platforms.
