नौकरी का विवरण
About the Role
The Microgrid Project Manager will oversee the end-to-end delivery of microgrid projects in Kenya. This role combines project execution, local ecosystem development, business growth, and cross-cultural team leadership. The successful candidate will work on energy projects such as microgrids, solar-storage-diesel hybrid systems, and off-grid photovoltaic stations while coordinating with local partners, authorities, and financing stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full lifecycle execution of microgrid projects, from early planning through final handover.
- Coordinate local resource integration and support the development of reliable partner networks.
- Drive international capacity cooperation and advance local manufacturing initiatives.
- Support business development efforts and build financing and investment channels.
- Strengthen the team and manage multicultural collaboration effectively.
Required Background
Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, New Energy, Automation, or another engineering discipline. Degrees in Project Management or Business Administration are also acceptable.
The role requires at least 5 years of relevant experience, including 3+ years in overseas engineering project management. Proven experience delivering renewable energy projects end to end, such as microgrids, solar-storage-diesel hybrid energy systems, or off-grid solar plants, is essential. Experience serving as a project manager or deputy project manager on overseas EPC or BOT projects is preferred, as is prior delivery experience in Kenya or elsewhere in East Africa. Professional credentials such as PMP or First-Class Construction Engineer certification in electromechanical engineering are an advantage.
The ideal candidate will understand microgrid architecture, solar-storage-diesel hybrid technology, and smart energy management systems. Familiarity with Kenya’s power sector policies, the KOSAP framework for off-grid solar access, and REREC execution standards is important. Strong intercultural communication and negotiation skills are needed to engage independently with clients, government bodies, and international financing partners. The role also calls for solid leadership, the ability to manage several projects at once, and the capacity to draft bilingual Chinese-English project reports, bid documents, and business correspondence. English must be usable as a working language for technical discussions and commercial negotiations. Candidates must also be comfortable with long-term deployment in Kenya and frequent travel.
Additional Notes
This position is based in Nairobi County, Kenya and requires on-site work.
