About the Role
Descon is seeking a qualified Manager Zone to oversee project site operations in Ruwais, UAE. This full-time, onsite position requires a Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in the Oil & Gas sector, particularly in managing large-scale shutdowns, turnarounds, and project execution. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, commercial acumen, and a proven ability to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage overall project site operations in Ruwais.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, within budget, on schedule, and according to client specifications.
- Oversee all phases of project execution, including planning, mobilization, execution, and closeout.
- Proactively manage project risks, handle variations, and maintain effective client communications.
- Optimize the utilization of manpower, materials, and equipment for maximum efficiency.
- Monitor and control project financial performance, including budgeting and cost management.
- Coordinate effectively with internal departments, clients, and external vendors.
Candidate Profile
- Mechanical Engineer by qualification with a mandatory Bachelor’s Degree.
- A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
- Demonstrated strong experience in Shutdowns/Turnarounds and in a Leadership capacity.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale site operations and project execution.
- Solid commercial and financial understanding, including budgeting, cost control, invoicing, and profitability management.
- Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing subcontractors.
- Thorough understanding of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), Quality standards, and contractual compliance.
