Role overview
Larian Studios is seeking a proactive, practical Junior Security Engineer to help improve and maintain security across its worldwide studio environment. This position suits someone at the beginning of a cybersecurity path who is eager to gain hands-on experience in infrastructure protection, vulnerability management, monitoring, and day-to-day security operations within the gaming sector.
You will collaborate with IT, infrastructure, and development teams to support security activities, investigate potential threats, strengthen controls, and contribute to secure working practices across the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Help find, evaluate, and reduce vulnerabilities affecting infrastructure and applications.
- Assist with rolling out and running security tools across a range of systems and environments.
- Carry out security monitoring, run vulnerability scans, and support log review to spot incidents or suspicious activity.
- Support security audits and help turn findings into practical recommendations.
- Help keep Windows and Linux systems aligned with secure baseline settings.
- Take part in incident response and escalation processes.
- Assist in educating employees on good information security habits.
- Explore new technologies, tools, and security methods to build knowledge and improve capability.
- Keep security documentation and operational procedures current and well maintained.
- Participate in change-management activities to ensure secure implementation of updates and changes.
Required background
- At least 1 to 3 years of experience in IT, infrastructure, or cybersecurity-related roles.
- A foundational grasp of cybersecurity principles and standard industry practices.
- Exposure to vulnerability scanning or security monitoring tools.
- Basic familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Introductory experience with scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Good problem-solving ability and analytical thinking.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Genuine interest in cybersecurity and a willingness to keep learning.
- Comfort working collaboratively in a team setting.
Preferred exposure
- Experience or familiarity with SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, or vulnerability management platforms.
- Interest in security automation and scripting.
- Background supporting distributed or international environments.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Interest in gaming or familiarity with gaming industry environments.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals.
