About the Opportunity
This is a senior leadership role within a major Australian food manufacturing group operating nationally across multiple production and supply chain locations. The business serves retail, foodservice, and export markets, and logistics is a critical driver of its performance.
The organisation is currently investing heavily in capital upgrades, automation, and systems improvement. That means the logistics function is a priority area, supported by leadership commitment and the resources needed to deliver meaningful change.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the General Manager, Logistics will have complete responsibility for the company’s end-to-end logistics operations across the national network.
Key Accountabilities
- Define and execute the national logistics strategy, including network design and day-to-day operational delivery across all sites.
- Oversee the movement of inbound raw materials, warehousing, stock control, and outbound distribution of finished products.
- Manage fleet operations, third-party logistics partnerships, and carrier performance.
- Ensure cold chain and ambient logistics are run with full compliance and product integrity.
- Contribute to sales and operations planning by aligning supply and demand with commercial and planning teams.
- Lead the logistics technology agenda, including integration across TMS, WMS, and ERP platforms.
- Direct a large, distributed team of logistics professionals across multiple locations.
- Own logistics capital spending and operational budgets.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and optimise the logistics network.
- Maintain strong compliance with regulatory requirements, food safety standards, and workplace health and safety obligations.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will bring extensive senior logistics or supply chain leadership experience, ideally gained in FMCG, food manufacturing, or another highly complex multi-site environment.
You should be commercially astute, confident working at executive level, and capable of balancing service, cost, and operational performance. A strong track record in people leadership, culture building, and digital/logistics transformation is essential.
Tertiary qualifications in supply chain, logistics, engineering, or business are expected, and postgraduate study will be looked upon favourably.
What’s On Offer
- An executive-level remuneration package aligned to the scale and scope of the position.
- Access to short-term and long-term incentive arrangements.
- A clear mandate, backed by investment and full functional ownership, within a leadership team that values strong logistics capability.
