Role overview
This site-based Mechanical Execution Engineer will oversee the day-to-day delivery of mechanical work at the project location in Chennai. The position covers piping, machinery installation, HVAC, fire protection, and utility-related systems, with a strong focus on schedule adherence, workmanship quality, safety, and smooth coordination across teams and vendors.
Key responsibilities
The role involves managing the execution of mechanical activities directly at site, including installation of equipment, piping networks, ducting, firefighting systems, and related services. It also includes guiding subcontractors and site crews so that progress stays aligned with the approved plan and required standards.
You will need to review and understand mechanical drawings, isometric drawings, P&IDs, and site layout plans. The job also requires carrying out inspection checks at different stages, verifying installations, and supporting testing activities in line with QA/QC requirements.
Another major part of the role is ensuring that materials, tools, manpower, and equipment are available so work can continue without interruption. You will also be expected to keep accurate site records such as daily progress updates, inspection documentation, and material movement or consumption logs.
Coordination with procurement for timely supply of materials and with design teams for technical inputs and clarifications is also essential. In addition, you will monitor contractor output, identify deviations or non-conformities, and escalate issues where necessary.
The position requires strict adherence to safety rules, participation in safety audits, and involvement in toolbox discussions. It also supports commissioning activities and helps close punch-list items during final handover.
