The Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), which sits within the wider group, delivers confidential support to employees dealing with a range of work and life concerns. The Albany branch in Auckland is looking for an empathetic and experienced Counsellor to join the team and provide the kind of care and support people deserve.

Role overview

This is a permanent, full-time, on-site counselling role based in Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand. The position centres on employee care, early intervention and practical support, with minimal administrative burden.

Main responsibilities

• Provide targeted interventions that help clients strengthen coping strategies for both work and personal life.
• Attend workplaces to support teams following disruptive or distressing events.
• Offer counselling through face-to-face sessions, video calls and telehealth platforms.
• Facilitate training sessions for client employees.

Ideal candidate profile

• You bring a compassionate approach and a genuine ability to understand and support others.
• You hold a current APC with NZAC, DAPAANZ, SWRB or NZCCA.
• You have a tertiary Level 7 qualification in counselling or a closely related field, along with at least five years of post-study experience in general counselling.
• Experience with trauma intervention and psychological first aid is important.
• You are comfortable working independently and attending sites when psychological first aid is required.
• Knowledge of evidence-based therapy approaches such as SFT, CBT and FACT would be an advantage.
