Role overview
The Business Intelligence Analyst will be based in the Oxford office and report to the Head of Specialist Solutions. The role focuses on understanding customer reporting needs, turning them into practical intelligence outputs, and working closely with data scientists and systems engineers to define reporting specifications, support data architecture, and deliver accurate insights on time.
Customer success and service delivery
- Work directly with customers to uncover their reporting needs and convert those business needs into useful, action-oriented insights.
- Track updates in regulatory rules and the wider risk environment so customers receive proactive guidance rather than only reactive support.
- Build strong relationships with key buyers and develop a solid understanding of their strategic priorities and how reporting tools can help them.
- Create and run training programmes for customers who want to become advanced users of reporting tools, keeping all supporting materials clear, accessible, and current.
- Serve as a dependable advisor to customers, helping them navigate changes in reporting expectations and get the greatest value from dashboards and data.
Reporting and dashboard development
- Prepare detailed, well-structured reporting specifications that allow data scientists to build complex dashboards efficiently and accurately.
- Partner with data scientists and technical teams to make sure the specifications are precise, usable, and aligned with customer and regulatory needs.
- Where suitable, help standardise dashboard frameworks across sectors while still accounting for local regulatory differences.
- Help maintain a continuous improvement process so reports, dashboards, and source datasets stay aligned with questionnaire updates and changing business requirements.
- Contribute to discussions on data architecture so the reporting stack can scale and support high-quality analytics delivery.
Systems and technical support
- Support the upkeep and management of reporting systems, working alongside technical teams to maintain reliability and performance.
- Assist with data architecture planning so datasets are organised to support both standard and tailored reporting needs.
- Act as a connector between customer-facing teams and technical specialists, translating commercial requirements into technical execution.
- Maintain ongoing compliance with information security standards in every part of the role.
Experience, skills and qualifications
- Demonstrable experience documenting reporting requirements in a way that can be effectively delivered by technical teams.
- Background managing large datasets in a quality-focused analytical service environment.
- Strong accuracy and a sharp eye for detail.
- Ability to collaborate within a team and work to deadlines.
- Track record of delivering against defined targets and timelines.
- Experience working in a business that is growing or scaling.
- Awareness of information security requirements and the discipline to follow them.
- Previous customer-facing experience.
- Working knowledge of procurement processes in large buying organisations is preferred.
- Comfort using data tools, including Microsoft Excel and business intelligence platforms.
- A degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant subject area.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Confident spoken and written English, with professional business communication skills for client-facing settings.
Personal attributes
- Practical, solution-focused, and resilient, with a determined and positive approach to challenges.
- Skilled at building relationships and comfortable working with people across different teams and industries.
- Committed to ongoing learning and professional growth.
- Motivated by goals and targets, with the discipline to stay focused on outcomes.
