About the Company
Sunrise’s Dreem Health is a digital sleep clinic focused on making sleep care easier to access across the United States. Instead of requiring long waits or in-lab sleep studies, the service uses at-home testing, telehealth consultations with specialists, and treatment plans tailored to each patient so they can receive care from home and on a schedule that works for them.
Role Overview
The Billing Support Coordinator will manage a key part of the patient financial experience. This position requires a solid background in insurance operations, revenue cycle processes, and patient billing support, along with the ability to communicate clearly with patients, payers, and internal teams. The role also contributes to process refinement and documentation as the organization grows.
Patient Billing and Insurance Assistance
You will be the main contact for patients with questions about invoices, insurance coverage, billing statements, and payments across phone, email, and other communication channels. The job also involves explaining benefit information, cost estimates, and what the patient is expected to pay in a way that is easy to understand and considerate. More complex or sensitive billing issues will need to be handled with a patient-first approach.
Insurance Operations and Revenue Cycle Work
This role includes supporting insurance checks, benefit reviews, and eligibility confirmation for sleep-related services. You will also assist with tracking prior authorizations, following up on documentation, and meeting payer-specific requirements. In addition, you will help with claim-related accuracy by ensuring patient, payer, and service details are correct, while flagging policy conflicts, denial issues, or payer mismatches for escalation.
Billing Accuracy and Payment Handling
The coordinator will process patient payments and support payment plan arrangements when needed. You will also help issue invoices, monitor them, and reconcile them in coordination with finance and operations. Maintaining accurate billing and insurance information in internal systems such as CRM and billing tools is also part of the role.
Cross-Functional Coordination
You will work closely with billing, clinical, operations, and patient services teams so that insurance workflows align with patient onboarding. When necessary, you may also serve as the link between internal teams and payer representatives to clarify coverage or authorization questions.
Process Improvement and Documentation
The position requires a practical, improvement-focused mindset. You will help create and update SOPs for billing, insurance verification, and prior authorization work, identify recurring issues or bottlenecks, suggest useful fixes, and support quality checks to help ensure both payer compliance and internal standards are met.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate has prior experience in medical billing, insurance operations, revenue cycle, or patient financial services, preferably in a healthcare setting. Familiarity with insurance verification, benefit breakdowns, and prior authorization workflows is important. Experience with Medicare and commercial payers is a plus, as is exposure to DME, sleep medicine, or diagnostic services.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, especially the ability to explain financial and insurance topics to patients in a clear and compassionate way. You should also bring excellent attention to detail, strong organization, reliability, and the ability to juggle priorities and deadlines in a fast-moving environment. A patient-centered, solutions-oriented mindset is important, along with comfort discussing sensitive financial matters and resolving complex billing or insurance issues.
This role also calls for independence and teamwork, since you will need to work on your own while coordinating effectively with cross-functional colleagues. A process-oriented approach, including the ability to interpret payer policies, improve workflows, create documentation, and contribute to operational enhancements, is highly valued.
Benefits and Perks
Benefits include the chance to work with an international team spread across the US, Paris, Belgium, and Vienna. The company offers medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with company match, 20 days of PTO, 10 paid holidays, sick leave, a free One Medical membership, and an internet stipend.
Team Values
Sunrise Group emphasizes clarity and simplicity, trust and collaboration, and optimism paired with compassion. The team values autonomy, fast decision-making, shared ideas, and giving every team member a voice.
Compensation
The pay for this role is $22.00 to $25.00 per hour.
Equal Opportunity Statement
Dreem Health and Sunrise are equal opportunity employers. They welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are committed to creating a workplace where people feel respected and included. Discrimination and harassment are not tolerated.
Application Fit
The employer encourages interested candidates to apply even if they do not meet every qualification, especially if they are curious, resourceful, and excited to help build something new in healthcare.
