Role Overview
The AI Manager will own the strategic planning and day-to-day delivery of the firm’s artificial intelligence initiatives. Reporting to the Head or Deputy Head of Information Services, this position plays a key role in connecting advanced AI capabilities with the practical needs of a legal practice. The successful candidate will manage the full lifecycle of AI solutions, with a focus on ethical use, business fit, and strong technical execution across the firm’s technology environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Set the direction for the firm’s AI programme and turn that roadmap into action, including use cases in legal research, contract analysis, client-facing automation, and internal workflow improvement.
- Guide, coach, and support AI engineers while encouraging innovation, ongoing learning, and high technical standards.
- Build and maintain AI governance practices covering data privacy, bias reduction, cybersecurity, and responsible AI use, while ensuring alignment with applicable legal, compliance, and industry rules.
- Work closely with the IT team, Partners, and practice groups to convert business requirements into workable AI solutions.
- Assess, choose, and oversee external AI vendors, LLM providers, and specialist consultants.
- Manage the design and oversight of AI infrastructure across on-premise and cloud setups, including deployment pipelines for models.
- Spot, evaluate, and reduce technical and operational risks tied to AI rollouts, with attention to continuity and resilience.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, or a closely related discipline is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in IT leadership, including a minimum of 2 years leading AI or ML teams and projects.
- Strong knowledge of machine learning, large language models, natural language processing, and generative AI, with evidence of taking models from prototype stage into production.
- Proven ability to lead varied technical teams, manage budgets, and drive strategic work in a complex professional services setting.
- Prior exposure to the legal sector, either directly or in partnership with legal teams, is highly advantageous, along with familiarity with legal workflows and regulatory limits.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to explain technical ideas clearly to non-technical audiences, and strong problem-solving capability.

This is a full-time, onsite role based in Singapore, Singapore.
