Role overview
The Vice President of Global Procurement will own and reshape the procurement function for a major division, with responsibility for lowering costs, building strong supplier relationships, and ensuring high-performing operations across both direct and indirect materials. This leadership role is focused on generating business value, encouraging innovation, managing supply risk, and keeping sourcing practices competitive, resilient, and aligned with ESG expectations in a fast-changing international environment.
What you will do
- Create and roll out a procurement strategy for the division that supports commercial goals and sustainability commitments, making full use of global and regional purchasing scale.
- Lead initiatives that improve cost efficiency, strategic sourcing, and value engineering so the business can strengthen margins and market position.
- Manage, coach, and develop a worldwide procurement organization with regional reporting lines, while building leadership depth and future succession.
- Build long-term supplier partnerships and reduce exposure to supply chain disruption to protect continuity and resilience.
- Ensure procurement activities follow ESG principles, compliance standards, and ethical sourcing expectations.
- Work closely with R&D, Operations, Finance, and Business Unit leaders to connect procurement with product lifecycle planning and lean manufacturing efforts.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate should hold a master’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a closely related field, with an MBA considered an advantage. A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain leadership is required, including at least 5 years in a senior global leadership position. Background in manufacturing or similar industrial environments is preferred. The role calls for strong strategic judgment, financial understanding, and the ability to convert plans into measurable business results. You should bring proven capability in leadership, change management, and collaboration across functions, regions, and business units. Because this is a global position with large teams in the US and Europe, openness to travel up to 60% is necessary. A solid grasp of international market conditions and regulatory requirements is essential. Strong written and spoken English is mandatory, and knowledge of a second language would be an added benefit.
