Senior/Associate Electrical Engineer - Building Services

The opportunity

Beca is seeking a Senior/Associate Electrical Engineer for its growing Tauranga office. This role offers the chance to work on meaningful projects, build your career, and help influence the future of the Bay of Plenty region. You will be part of a wider network of more than 400 Building Services Engineers across Asia Pacific, collaborating with varied clients while developing both leadership and technical expertise.

Role overview

• Work within an electrical engineering team and help encourage collaboration and professional growth.
• Develop electrical design strategies and provide technical direction across projects.
• Deliver building services electrical design work from early concept through to completion, including construction observation and commissioning on high-profile projects across New Zealand and the Pacific.
• Partner with multidisciplinary teams to prepare drawings, technical specifications, and project reports.
• Carry out calculations for transformers, generators, UPS systems, lighting, and cable sizing.

About you

You should be a qualified electrical engineer with a consulting mindset and a strong interest in building client relationships. The role calls for someone with a positive, hands-on approach, strong technical judgement, and project leadership capability. Chartered status is preferred, or you should be actively working toward it.

What the role requires

• At least 6 years of experience in low-voltage electrical building services design and/or commissioning.
• Experience in a consulting environment and comfort building long-term client relationships.
• Solid technical design ability and project management capability.
• A proactive attitude, good problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset.
• Experience with PowerCAD, AGI32, Bluebeam, and Revit is preferred.
• Knowledge of relevant New Zealand or Australian standards is desirable.
• CPEng status, or active progress toward chartership.
